Rescues
Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR),
is a volunteer-operated, non-profit organization dedicated to
new beginnings for displaced Golden Retrievers. We carefully
screen all incoming dogs for socially unacceptable behavior
and accept those we feel we can responsibly place. We provide
spay and neuter services and essential veterinary care needed
to place them with new and carefully matched, permanent,
adoptive homes. Further, we provide public education by means
of brochures, a newsletter, and canine education events about responsible pet
ownership and the Golden Retriever breed. We operate in Eastern Pennsylvania
and New Jersey.
Hillside SPCA,
is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation that provides
animal welfare services to all of Schuylkill County,
Pennsylvania. The county presently has a population
of approximately 153,000. The Hillside SPCA, Inc.
service area covers approximately 783 square miles.
The Hillside SPCA, Inc. operates an animal shelter
facility located at SPCA Road, North Manheim Township,
Pennsylvania. The shelter currently houses in excess
of 200 cats and dogs. The facility is operating at an
absolute maximum capacity and has done so for several
years. During 1997, the Hillside SPCA, Inc. took in
approximately 1,200 animals. These were received as
releases from private owners, stray animals and animals
seized in connection with cruelty investigations.
The Hillside SPCA is what is known as a "no-kill"
shelter since the Hillside does not put a time limit
on how long an animal will be maintained at the
shelter. We give the animals every attempt at
adoption possible with euthanasia being performed
only if an animal is so sick it cannot be helped,
or is so vicious or unable to be socialized that it
cannot be placed in a home.
Lehigh County Humane Society
is a shelter located in Allentown, PA that is dedicated to investigating cruelty
to animals and finding happy homes for pets.
